General appearance: Dog that works with a good even pace, but today has problems with game handling and in the blind retrieve.

Excuses: The training session the day before seemed to be bothering Luka a bit since his free search wasn’t up to his usual standards. The problems in handling the game had more to do with the handler than dog…

Game handling: Slightly hard grip with pigeon, does not break.

Jäljestämiskyky: Ei selvitä jälkeä.

Tracking ability: Does not complete the task.

Muut ominaisuudet: Rauhallinen ammuttaessa, voisi olla hieman kuuliaisempi.

Other qualities: Calm during shot, could listen to handler better.

Yleisvaikutelma: Tasaisella vauhdilla työskentelevä uros jolla hyvä riistainto. Toivoisin hieman enemmän kuuliaisuutta. Koira ei selvitä jälkeä.

General appearance: Dog that works with even pace and good enthusiasm towards game. I wish he would be more obedient. Does not complete the tracking task.

Excuses: I almost vowed that I’d go to an obedience test with Luka if we still got feedback about his obedience. Well see… I am very satisfied with Luka’s work. For some reason he has problems with the tracking task, so I guess we need to practice it more.

Paikallistamiskyky: Näkee kaikki heitot, hyvä muistikuva, selvittää tehtävät itsenäisesti.

Marking: Sees all throws, good memory, completes task independently.

Riistankäsittely: Spontaanit ylösotot, palauttaa hyvin, muutama pudotus luovutusvaiheessa.

Game handling: Spontaneous pick-ups, returns well, drops a couple of times when returning to hand.

Jäljestämiskyky: Ei selvitä jälkeä.

Tracking ability: Doesn’t complete the task.

Muut ominaisuudet: Vaatii ohjaajan huomiota ammuttaessa ja heitettäessä.

Other qualities: Requires attention from handler during shots and throws.

Yleisvaikutelma: Työhaluinen, melko nopea koira, selvittää kokeen tehtävät. Ei selvitä jälkeä.

General appearance: Enthusiastic worker, quite fast, completes tests tasks. Doesn’t complete tracking task.

Excuses: Definitely Luka’s best performance in test to date and he completed the first phase. Unfortunately the pouring rain and tall forest after a small clearing while on the trail apparently weakened his self-confidence enough that he didn’t find the rabbit. However, I still have a wide smile on my face while writing this after a successful test.

Other qualities: Slightly strong-willed dog.

Yleisvaikutelma: Haun tehottomuus yhdessä markkeerauksen ja riistan käsittelyn puutteiden vuoksi pudottaa koiran tänään palkintosijoilta.

General appearance: Inefficient searching in addition to faults in marks and game handling remove the chance of a prize today.

Excuses: This time the above evaluation doesn’t give an accurate picture of the handler’s feelings on how the test went. Of course not receiving a prize was a just result, but Luka’s success in the guided retrieve and how Luka was guided over a larger body of water to the second free search area were definite successes. The only problem was that after the guide into the other search area, Luka found the common teal from the marks, which he’d originally marked much further than it really was. The free search area was really difficult, it was the first time we’ve encountered a free search area that is divided by a body of open water. Well, we can always train more…

Haku: Koira tutkii lähes koko alueen. Löytää 4/5 riistaa. Loppua kohden koiran työskentelymotivaatio alkaa laskea.

Area search: Dog searches almost the whole area. Finds 4/5. Towards the end dog’s working motivation begins to flag.

Ohjattavuus: Koira ottaa hyvin linjaa ja saadaan suoraan riistalle.

Guided retrieve: Dog takes a good line and is guided directly to game.

Paikallistamiskyky: Koira suorittaa tehtävän riittävän itsenäisesti.

Marking: Dog completes the task independently enough.

Riistankäsittely: Palauttaa suoraan ohjaajalle, joidenkin riistojen kohdalla pientä huolimattomuutta.

Game handling: Returns directly to handler, some carelessness at times.

Yleisvaikutelma: Hiukan itsepäisen kuvan itsestään antava koira. Onnistuu kaikissa tehtävissä, mutta se saisi olla itsenäisessä työssä tehokkaampi ja määrätietoisempi.

General appearance: Dog gives a slightly stubborn air of himself. Completes all tasks, but good be more efficient and determined in independent work.

Excuses: Definitely Luka’s best performance so far. Some typical flatcoat behavior (I know where the game is better than dad) and identity crisis (blond tried to become black) in the air. Our training has really paid off since some of our earlier pitfalls were a piece of cake now.

General appearance: Dog lack self-confidence in marks leading judge to interrupt the test.

Excuses: There was a monster in the forest. It was a complete surprise when Luka stopped at the bird and didn’t dare pick it up.

Haku: Haku alkaa hieman takkuisesti, samoin loppuu välillä. Tekee varsin hyvää hakutyötä varsinkin ranta-alueella.

Area search: The search doesn’t begin very well and dog takes some breaks. When working the search is quite good, especially in the wet reeds.

Ohjattavuus: Tehtävä selvitetään helposti.

Guided retrieve: The task is completed easily.

Paikallistamiskyky: Näkee pudotukset, noutaa ensimmäisen, mutta ei lähde yrittämäänkään toista.

Marking: Sees the marks, retrieves the the first but doesn’t even try to retrieve the second.

Riistankäsittely: Pudottelee riistoja luovutusten yhteydessä ja vähän muulloinkin.

Game handling: Drops game when giving to handler and at some other times.

Yleisvaikutelma: Hieman vaihtelevan kuvan itsestään antanut koira, suorittaa tehtävät tänään palkinnon arvoisesti.

General appearance: Dog gives a varying impression of himself. Completes task for a prize today.

Excuses: Luka made the best blind mark ever by going to the game at straight line at the first command. The heat and five hours of waiting lowered Luka’s efficiency in the area search. The test began with area search in a very hot forest and there was no feasible possibility to let the dog swim before the test. The second mark was thrown almost into the thrower’s boat – when training these types of throws are rethrown so Luka ignored it.

Yleisvaikutelma: Tasaisella vauhdilla kokeessa työskennellyt koira jolla tänään vähäisiä puutteita riistan käsittelyssä luovutusten osalla sekä puutteellinen ohjattavuus heikentävät suorituksen kokonaiskuvaa.

General appearance: Dog works with a steady pace, but small issues in retrieving to hand and lacking guidability negatively impact the general appearance.

Excuses: First dog in the test, handler (Ramin) didn’t have the time to mentally prepare himself or Luka.

Haku: Kulkee hyvällä vauhdilla alueella, mutta ei keskity etsimään. Palailee tyhjänä. Löytää 3/7.

Area search: Moves with good speed in the area, but doesn’t concentrate on searching. Returns empty. Finds 3/7.

Ohjattavuus: Tarvitsee voimakasta käskytystä ja useita lähetyksiä, mutta selvittää tehtävän.

Guided retrieve: Needs strong guidance and several starts, but completes the task.

Paikallistamiskyky: Näkee pudotukset, noutaa riistat itsenäisesti joskin tarvitsee toisen lähetyksen viimeeksi heitetylle.

Marking: Sees marks and retrieves them independently, but needs a second start to the latter mark.

Riistankäsittely: Hyvät otteet ja luovutukset.

Game handling: Good handling and returning to hand.

Yleisvaikutelma: Epätasaisesti työskentelevä koira, joka vaatii paljon käsksytystä ohjaajalta. Tehottomuus haussa pudottaa koiran korkeimmilta palkintosijoilta.

General appearance: Unevenly working dog, that requires lots of work from the handler. Inefficiency in search drops dog from higher prizes.

Excuses: The first test of the season and we hand’t worked on area search for a long time. And his nose stayed in bed next to Anna. Competing the guided retrieve was a positive surprise. There were two terrain changes in the guided retrieve and we hadn’t practiced them yet. The marks were also in a line with the latter not visible from the starting point, again a thing we hadn’t trained for.

Riistankäsittely: Koiran pitäisi olla huomattavasti varmempi riistojen luovutuksissa. Pudottelee aika paljon.

Game handling: The dog should be much better in game handling. Drops the game quite a bit.
