Yleisvaikutelma: Tasaisella vauhdilla työskentelevä koira, selvittää helposti haku- sekä markkeeraustehtävät. Valitettavasti tänään ohjaustehtävä epäonnistuu ja pudottaa koiran pois korkeimmalta palkintosijalta.
General appearance: Dog works at an even speed and easily clears the free search and marks. Unfortunately today the guided retrieve fails and drops the dog from the highest prizes.
Kootut selitykset: Lappeenrannan epäonnistuneen kokeen jälkeen Luka teki loistavaa työtä Haminassa. Valitettavasti uintilinja meni reilun metrin ohi ohjausriistasta ja sitä ei vain sitten löytynyt. Muuten suoritus oli tasaisen varmaa työtä Lukalta.
Excuses: After the failed test in Lappeenranta Luka worked beautifully in Hamina. Unfortunately he swam a few feet away from the guided retrieve game and just didn’t find it. Otherwise it was again a solid performance from Luka.

Good size, compact body. 9 months old. Nice head and expression. Enough neck. Top line a bit rolling in movement. A bit straight, in shoulders OK angulation behind. Good coat. Good tail carriage. A bit cow hocke positioned and a bit open front. Nice temperament.
Hyvänkokoinen, lyhyt runko. 9kk vanha. Kiva pää ja ilme. Riittävä kaula. Ylälinja hieman pyörivä tällä hetkellä. Hieman suorat olkavarret, takakulmaukset ok. Hyvä karva. Hyvä hännän kantoasento. Hieman pihtikinttuinen takaa ja hieman avoin edestä. Mukava luonne.
Hyvinkää RNgroup show
Rento viikonloppureissu Hyvinkäälle. Topi pääsi ensimmäistä kertaa junnuluokkaan. Tuomarina oli Tina Sulce (Latvia) ja tuloksena JUN EH-3. Topi-kirppu oli nuorin luokassaan ja sen kyllä huomasi ;) Tästä on hyvä jatkaa.

Relaxing weekend trip to Hyvinkää. Topi was entered to junior class for the first time. The judge was Tina Sulce (Latvia) and the result 3rd in junior class with Very good. Topi was the youngest in his class and it really showed ;) This was a good start.

General appearance: Dog works well in the marks, but problems in the guided retrieve fail the test.
Kootut selitykset: Ei ollut ensimmäinen kerta, että Luka keksi mörköillä kokeessa. Tällä kertaa ohjausriistana ollut haahka (iso ja painava) sekä vähän kaikki muu taisivat tehdä olon sen verran epävarmaksi, että palautus jäi kesken.
Excuses: It wasn’t the first time that Luka decided to see monsters during a test. This time the common teal that he was supposed to return from the guided retrieve (a big and heavy bird) and various other factors seemed to make him uncertain enough that he didn’t finish the return.

Keltainen. Mittasuht[eiltaan] erinomainen, hyväluust[oinen] uros. Vähän syvälle asettuneet silmät tekevät ilmeestä kovan. Erinom[ainen] lihaksikas takaosa ja hyvä runko. Tarpeeksi kaulaa. Kinnerahtaat takaliikkeet. Keskipitkä askel, jossa tarp[eeksi] joustoa. Reipas käytös.
Yellow. Dog with excellent proportions and good bone structure. Slightly deep-set eyes make his expression hard. Excellent, muscular rear and good body. Enough neck. Movement in back cow-hocked. Medium length stride with enough spring. Cheery behavior.
Lappeenranta FlattimestaruusFlatcoated retriever championship
Luka osallistui jälleen flatti-kisälliin, eli alokasluokan kokeeseen ja näyttelyosuuteen. Näyttelyosuuden tuomarina oli Elena Ruskovaara. Tämä oli ensimmäinen Flattimestaruus, jossa keltainen väri ei aihauta hylkäämistä näyttelyosuudessa – kiitos uuden sääntömuutoksen! Luka sai ihan kivan arvioinnin ulkomuoto-osuudessa, mutta kokeessa tuli nolla ja “komennus punttisalille” (Luka ei jaksanut kantaa 2,5 kg painavaa haahkaa loppuun asti ohjaajalle, siitä nolla). Luka participated in the Flatti-kisälli (flatcoat-apprentice) again, which is a beginner’s class hunt test and unofficial dog show. The show judge was Elena Ruskovaara. This was the very first Flatcoated retriever championship where the yellow colour was not disqualifying feature – thanks to the new Flatcoated retriever championship rules! Luka got a nice evaluation at the show. Luka got no prize in the hunt test and was ordered to “go to the gym to lift some weights” (Luka didn’t have enough power to retrieve 2,5 kg / 5,5 lbs Common Eider all the way back to the handler, that’s why no prize). Sorsastuskauden upeaakin upeampi avausStarting the waterfowl hunting season with a bang
Sen sijaan, että Ramin olisi lähtenyt vieraaksi toisen seuran metsästysmaille, päätti hän jäädä kotimaastoihin sorsastuksen avaukseen. Ja se oli hyvä päätös!
Yli seitsemän tunnin aikana seurue sai pudotettua 35 lintua, joista Luka pääsi noutamaan 25. Illalla meillä oli kotona yksi erittäin väsynyt mutta onnellinen noutaja.
Koska passipaikka oli todella lähellä kotia, Anna toi Topin hetkeksi katselemaan ja kuuntelemaan lämpimän riistan metsästystä. Koska yksi lintu tippui suoraan Topin eteen helppoon vesimaastoon, pääsi Topikin tekemään ensimmäisen metsästysnoutonsa.
Jos kausi alkoi isolla pamauksella, se kyllä hiipui aika nopeasti – valiitettavasti. Avauksen jälkeisinä metsästysreissuina – joita ei montaa ollut – tuloksena oli pari laukausta eikä ollenkaan lintuja.
Instead of heading off to be a visitor in another clubs hunting grounds Ramin decided to stick to our own neighborhood to start the season. Hooking up with a few of our neighbors close to our home proved to be a good choice.
Over the seven or so hours that Ramin and Luka were out, the hunting party got 35 birds of which Luka got to retrieve 25. In the end of the day we had one very tired retriever.
Since the hunt took place so close to home, Anna brought Topi along to sniff the air a bit and get an idea of what he’s been bred for. Since one bird dropped dead in the water right in front of him, he also got his first hunting retrieve.
Unfortunately, if our season started with a bang, it ended with a sizzle. After the opening day following outings – of which there weren’t many – produced only two fired shots and no birds.
Noutajien metsästyskokeet LiperissäHunt tests in Liperi
Viikonloppuna järjestettiin siis Liperissä kaksipäiväiset noutajien metsästyskokeet, joissa Lukalla oli molempina aamuina startti. Lauantaina tuloksena oli pyöreä nolla ensimmäisen (ja toivottavasti ainoan) riistarikon seurauksena. Sunnuntaina palasimme tuloskantaan kolmosella, mutta sitäkin tärkeämpää oli, että ohjaukset onnistuivat molempina päivinä ja saimme otetta siihen, mikä on aiheuttanut Lukalla tehottomuutta hakuun.
Lauantaina 14.8.2010 Anna ja Ramin seurasivat myös avoimen ja voittajaluokan suorituksia helteisessä kelissä. Molemmissa nähtiin niin onnistumisia kuin epäonnistumisiakin ja niistäkin sai vinkkiä omaan treenaamiseen. Ainakin näimme jälleen minkälaisia asioita avoimessa luokassa vaaditaan.
We had a two day hunt test in Liperi and Luka started on both days in the early morning. On saturday the result was a big fat zero after Luka’s first (and hopefully last) broken game during the return. On sunday we returned to getting prizes with a third prize. But more importantly the guided retrieves were successful on both days and we got a handle on why Luka’s free search has been quite inefficient.
On saturday 14.8.2010 both Anna and Ramin watched performances in both the open and winner’s classes in the continuing heatwave. In both classes we saw dogs and handlers succeed and fail and got ideas for our own training. At least we again got a handle on the requirements of the open class.

Oli mukava tunne “pudottaa riistaa joka laukauksella ;).” Kokeen ohjaus oli sen näköinen, että moni ohjaaja puisteli sille päätään. Se oli vaativa 150m vesiohjaus kapean “portin” läpi, jonka molemmilla puolilla oli erittäin vahvat riistojen hajut. Eikä se helle ollut erityisemmin edes vieläkään hellittänyt.
Koeviikonlopun kruunasi koko porukan uittaminen vielä niin lämpimissä järvivesissä.

On Sunday 15.8.2010 Ramin went to watch the winner’s class performances after Luka’s start. He also ended up working as a shooter in the class. It felt really good “to shoot game with every shot ;).” The guided retrieve was so demanding that many handlers just shook their heads when they saw it. 150 metres of guided water work through a “gate” surrounded by game scents. And it was still hot.
The weekend ended with a swimming session for our whole pack in the still very warm lake water.

Yleisvaikutelma: Päivän kokeessa koira suorittaa hyvin ohjaus- sekä paikallistamistehtävän, mutta koesuorituksen kokonaisuutta heikentää puutteet riistan käsittelyssä sekä hieman tehoton hakutyöskentely.
General appearance: In today’s test the dog completes the guided retrieve and marks well, but lacks in game handling and somewhat inefficient free search reduce the prize.
Kootut selitykset: Luka vaikutti hieman väsyneeltä kokeeseen mennessä, mutta se ei näkynyt erityisemmin työskentelyssä. Ohjaus ja markkeeraukset olivat varmaa työtä – vaikka ohjaaja meinasikin kakkosmarkkeerauksessa mokata ja estää ensimmäisen heiton näkemisen. Hakutyössä aiemminkin saman tuomarin kokeissa näkyneen tehottomuuden syy selvisi. Jostain syystä Luka ei lähden syvällä pitkään kaislikkoon tekemään hakua. Pienellä lisätreenillä tämänkin asian pitäisi korjaantua. Riistan käsittely Lukalla on vähän ailahtelevaa palautuksissa, mutta eilisen rikon jälkeen en halunnut painostaa ollenkaan vaikka tiesin mahdollisten pudotusten heikentävän palkintosijaa.
Excuses: Luka seemed a bit tired on the way to the test, but it didn’t show in any special way in his work. The guided retrieve and marks were solid work – even though the handler almost caused Luka to miss seeing the first throw of the double. In the free search I finally figured out why the same judge has criticized Luka’s free search. For some reason he is very inefficient in searching through larger areas of rushes. A bit of extra practice should fix this issue. Game handling during the returns has always been a bit iffy with Luka, but after yesterday’s broken bird I didn’t want to take any chances at all even though I knew that possible drops would reduce the prize.
